DES MOINES, Iowa (Nov. 3, 2025)–The EMC Insurance logo is reaching new heights with the installation of a new sign on the company’s corporate headquarters. On Monday, Nov. 3, installation will begin on an illuminated sign featuring EMC’s refreshed logo atop its building at 700 Walnut St. in downtown Des Moines.
Mounted on the south side of the 20-story building, the 500-square-foot sign will be one of the highest and largest in Des Moines, adding a new lighted landmark to the city skyline. The sign’s “EMC” letters will shine in signature EMC blue with LED lighting. The installation includes a timer system to control illumination hours and features dual LED strands in each letter for long-term reliability and reduced maintenance needs.
The lighted sign replaces EMC’s previous signage at 717 Mulberry St. and reflects the company’s modern brand identity and long-standing commitment to the Des Moines business landscape.

Measuring nearly 15 feet tall and over 34 feet wide, the letters will be manually hoisted from the 16th floor balcony of the building by a rope-access crew—similar to window washers—over the course of several weeks. There will be no road closures or traffic disruptions during the installation process.
This project complements other recent investments in downtown Des Moines, including the EMC Expo Center and EMC Downtown Park, reinforcing EMC’s commitment to shaping a vibrant and welcoming downtown environment.
