DES MOINES, Iowa (April 18, 2025)—Today, EMC Insurance and the EMC Insurance Foundation announced their charitable giving and community impact for 2024. Since its establishment in 1989, the Foundation’s charitable giving totals more than $33 million, with the addition of last year’s contributions. EMC also funds numerous community projects and initiatives each year using corporate dollars for even greater impact.
“Our ultimate goal, both as a business, and through our community impact work, is to improve lives,” said Scott Jean, EMC President and CEO. “Giving back is at the heart of our culture, and I am incredibly proud of the way our company and our team members demonstrate this through our Foundation granting, corporate giving, and volunteerism.”

2024 Community Impact Highlights
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB): EMC's commitment to DEIB was demonstrated through support of many central Iowa community events like CelebrAsian, Iowa Juneteenth, Latino Heritage Festival, Girls on the Run 5K, and more. Additionally, 292 team members participated in EMC’s seven business resource groups, which provide a sense of community and belonging across the organization.
- Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity – Carter Court Blitz Build: EMC aided the organization in their work to provide multiple families with stable, affordable homes during the Carter Court Blitz Build. In October 2024, 30 EMC team members joined many other volunteers from the downtown Des Moines workforce to build 8 home exteriors on a Des Moines street in just one week.
- Donation Drives: EMC hosted donation events to support United Way of Central Iowa’s Stuff the Bus book drive and their Day of Action school pantry hygiene drive. In December 2024, EMC held its annual Orchard Place’s holiday gift drive. Members of the Volunteer Committee collected and wrapped over 350 gifts to help 100 local children and their families have a happier holiday season.
- Easter Lake North Shore Spaces – EMC Insurance Foundation: In May 2024, the EMC Insurance Event Center and adjacent Meditation Lawn opened in the North Shore Recreation Area at Easter Lake, one of the most accessible parks in the country. This community space is open for public events and serves as a site for youth programming to educate the next generation of environmental leaders.
EMC’s offices across the nation also contributed greatly to their communities through sponsoring events, and hosting fundraisers and donation drives to support local nonprofit organizations. A few examples include:
- Through partnership with United Way Berks County and “The Big Cheese” event, team members from the Valley Forge, PA office packed 972 nutrient-fortified meals alongside hundreds of other committed community volunteers. The meals were then put into “Weekender Bags” that are sent home with local elementary school children in need every week of the school year.
- The Providence, RI office dedicated their time to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, packing 223 boxes of food for elderly residents—7,359 pounds in total. These boxes helped to ensure easy access to nutritious meals for Rhode Island seniors facing food insecurity.
- Team members at the Chicago, IL office prepared a homemade meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield, Ill. They created a menu, shopped for ingredients, prepared the meal, and served it, bringing a sense of comfort and community to the families staying there.
