DES MOINES, Iowa (July 20, 2021)—EMC Insurance Companies has announced that Sharon Cooper has been named the company’s Chief Marketing Officer.
In this role, Cooper will oversee marketing, advertising, branding and public relations, collaborating with multiple departments across the company to develop a strategic marketing plan that drives business growth.
“We are very excited to have someone with Sharon’s expertise, leadership and enthusiasm join the team,” said Beth Nigut, chief people officer at EMC. “Her 20+ years of experience in the industry allows her to hit the ground running in developing and executing high-impact marketing initiatives for EMC.”
Most recently, Cooper served as owner and consultant of CCA Communications, a firm that designed business and crisis communication strategies focused on risk management, corporate positioning and organizational change initiatives. Prior to that, she served as global head of business communications for Munich Re and as chief communications and marketing officer at Selective Insurance Group.
Cooper received her Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Ill. She holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
